MEDICATION
RGKF provides temporary funding to eligible patients for medicines not covered or not fully covered by insurance. Even after transplantion, patients must continue taking immuno-suppressants for the rest of their lives so their bodies won't reject their new organs. The cost of medications associated with kidney disease can be more than $10,000 per year, depending on the medicines needed. The Foundation assists with these costs, which relieves some of the financial burdens patients face.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation to and from dialysis should never be a worry to those living with kidney disease, however, many patients lose their ability to drive, and have no one available to drive them. The Foundation provides temporary funding for patients to ensure they are safely transported to their lifesaving treatments.
TO GET ASSISTANCE
Any renal patient needing assistance with medications or transportation should discuss their needs with their renal social worker in the facility where dialysis treatments are administered. The social worker will assess the needs of the patient, and contact RGKF in writing to request the funds needed for the patient. Although patients can receive information from RGKF, all requests for funding must be submitted by Social Workers.
