Celebrating 40 Years!

In 2014, the Foundation sponsored a concert to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We were happy to share the moment with friends, family, pediatric nephrology professionals from Montefiore and other medical centers, Frost Valley YMCA staff, and especially kidney campers and their families.

To help us continue this life-changing camp program, please visit our DONATE NOW page.

“The decision 40 years ago to include — indeed to mainstream — children with kidney disease . . . enabled a whole change of thinking about inclusiveness and outreach. Because of the vision of the people of this foundation, Frost Valley is a better organization and serves more kinds of people.”
Al Filreis PhD
Frost Valley YMCA Camp Director at inception of program
Vice-President, Frost Valley Board of Trustees.
“Over the past 40 years of operation, the program has been a transformative experience for almost two thousand campers with kidney disorders. So, too, it has transformed the lives of the medical professionals, camp counselors and staff, and the other campers who have been by their sides.”
Frederick Kaskel, MD, PhD
Medical Director, Frost Valley YMCA Kidney Camp;
Director, Division of Pediatric Nephrology,
Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.
“I was a camper for four years, and I can honestly say the experience was amazing. . . . With my kidney disease I could still be part of the group. The doctors and nurses made sure I was always well taken care of. Having this program means kidney kids feel the magic that is Frost Valley.”
Shawn Blagmon
Former kidney camper, camp counselor, and Activities Director;
Board Member, The Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation.
